Phany / Teacher & Project Manager |
|
After a friend recommended Colors of Cambodia, I spent every Saturday and Sunday studying there, but with no expectation of ever being an art teacher. The Colors of Cambodia teachers were really friendly, easy-going, and always doing their best to assist all of their students. They inspired us and provided art lessons, paving the way for us to achieve success as artists.
After graduating from school, I worked for a few years in banking and finance, but the Colors of Cambodia teachers encouraged me to become a teacher. Like my teachers before me, I hope to give my students the enjoyment and happiness of art.

Honey / Teacher & Project Manager |

I was trained as a fine artist at the Malaysian Institute of Art in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I have twenty-plus years experience in teaching art to children in Malaysia, and since 2007 I have been involved with teaching art at Colors of Cambodia in Siem Reap.
Over time I have organised many exhibitions and events, and helped raise funds for Colors of Cambodia. I have also provided training for Colors of Cambodia teachers, helped obtain sponsorships for 170 local Khmer students, which has enabled them to go back to school and continue their education.
I believe that we should play our role and, no matter how small our contribution is, at least we have done something for those in need.

Martin / Teacher & Volunteer |

I did three years of art school training in the U.K. Later I studied art history and theory and took courses on exhibitions and galleries. I have worked as a designer and as a curator and art writer. I am, incidentally, a qualified British social worker and successfully ran Art and Literature workshops for adults with mental health problems.
I am the founder-editor of Dusun, an e-magazine dedicated to Asian art and writing, now in its fifth year, and have written about Colors of Cambodia there.
I am a consultant for Malaysian students in creative writing, and assist my wife, Honey Khor, with projects connected to Colors of Cambodia, including art history workshops.
