The reality is that making art is not just about making pictures, it has a profound effect on the brain, improving each and every cognitive, emotional and neurological process.

We provide free art education, materials, and workshops in public schools and a safe space
to explore in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Many of the students we have worked with are
now teachers at Colors of Cambodia, as well as professional working artists.

On a day-to-day basis at Colors of Cambodia, we host lessons, contests, critiques, and workshops at public schools with a team of teachers that also began as Colors of Cambodia students.

Our History

Colors of Cambodia began in 1999, when founder Bill Gentry first shared his love of art with children in rural Cambodian schools. By 2003, a dedicated school and gallery opened in Siem Reap, expanding access to free art education. Two decades later, in January 2023, the program relocated to a larger space (affectionately known as The River House) where students now explore not only painting and drawing, but also music, performance, sculpture, and graphic arts. Today, nearly a thousand children participate in COC classes each month, with Khmer-language art education videos extending this opportunity even further across Cambodia.
